Empowering 12-14-Year-Olds Through Physical Training, Academic Support, and Life Skills
Overview:
Our 12-week after-school program offers a holistic approach to youth development, combining physical fitness, academic enrichment, and social-emotional learning. Designed for 12-14-year-olds, the program runs from January to June, Monday through Thursday, from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
What the Program Includes:
Physical Training:
-Structured sessions focused on speed, strength, and agility, with staggered training days to optimize results.
Academic Enrichment:
-Daily tutoring and engaging activities to support students’ academic progress.
-Social-Emotional Learning (SEL):
Weekly themes and workshops to foster skills like resilience, goal-setting, and teamwork.
Family Engagement:
-Weekly "Strong Families Workshop" for parents and children to connect through games, food, and interactive activities.

-4:00 - 4:20 PM: Arrival and hydration check.
-4:20 - 4:45 PM: Pre-exercise snack and preparation.
-4:45 - 6:05 PM: Physical training (staggered speed/strength sessions).
-6:05 - 6:30 PM: Dinner to support recovery.
-6:30 - 7:30 PM: Academic support or enrichment activities.
- 7:30 PM: Dismissal and transportation home.

Summer Camp Recap: A Journey of Discovery and Achievement + youth development programs
BFIT Big Dreams Youth Inc. hosted a six-week summer camp filled with themed activities, hikes, and field trips designed to inspire and educate youth. Each week focused on unique themes like goal setting, math mastery, science adventures, career exploration, history and heritage, and nature immersion. Highlights included visits to Charlotte Motor Speedway’s STEM center, iFLY for aerodynamics, local businesses for career insights, and a final celebration at the US National Whitewater Center. The camp fostered exploration, personal growth, and hands-on learning experiences for all participants.

Our work with the ADA’s Project Power promotes healthy lifestyle choices.

Strong African American Families (SAAF) Program
In partnership with Charlotte Prevention Services (CPS), BFIT Big Dreams Youth Inc. proudly offers the Strong African American Families (SAAF) program. Designed for youth aged 10-14 and their caregivers, this evidence-based program supports positive youth development, strengthens parenting skills, and enhances family relationships. Through seven interactive sessions, SAAF covers essential topics like goal-setting, peer pressure resistance, cultural pride, and healthy decision-making for youth, while also equipping caregivers with effective parenting strategies that balance discipline with support.
Our collaborative approach focuses on reducing youth risk factors by fostering social-emotional learning, resilience, and informed decision-making. Together, we address the physical, mental, and social aspects of youth development to empower families and create a brighter future.

Project Power for Youth is an initiative from the American Diabetes Association® (ADA) that aims to slow the trajectory of childhood obesity and reduce its consequences. Children between the ages of 5–12 can participate in a fun and interactive, no- cost, program that engages them through challenges, games, and lessons about healthy eating habits, physical activity, and more. The program empowers children to make healthy lifestyle choices and developing lifelong healthy habits.
The **Too Good for Drugs** program, supported by our partnership with the Mecklenburg County ABC Board, helps youth develop life skills to make positive choices and avoid risky behaviors. Through engaging activities and lessons, we focus on teaching decision-making, building self-esteem, and promoting healthy lifestyles. This program is a key part of our summer camp and after-school efforts, blending education with fun to guide kids towards a drug-free future.
